Our staff ratio is 1 adult to every 4 children if under 3 years of age and 1 adult to every 8 children over 3 years of age as stipulated by the Health and Social Services Department.
The staff all attend various training throughout the year to not only renew qualifications but also to keep abreast of current thinking, new approaches and professional development.
Students and Volunteers
On occasions the playgroup may have students/volunteers within the playgroup. It is playgroup policy that individuals working with the children must have a background check (Access N.I.) already in place before they come to the playgroup to help.
Aghadowey Pre-school Playgroup is run by a voluntary management committee. The playgroup welcomes parents to actively participate in the management of the group. The committee meets on a regular basis and is responsible for
- Employment of Staff
- Reviewing Policies and Practices
- Child Protection
- Fund Raising
The committee is made up of interested parents and those from the local community that would like to offer their support to the playgroup.
As a community run playgroup we receive minimal funding and rely on external funders, parents and the local community for their support. We understand that parents are very busy people but we would appeal for each parent to become involved in some small way. Whether it be as a member of our committee, helping to sell tickets for fund raising, helping to weed our garden or painting/DIY etc. Thank you!
